Iris Photography Foundation organised their 2nd All India Digital Salon 2019 under the patronage of the Federation of Indian Photography (2018/FIP/177/2019). There were six sections— Monochrome, Color, Photo Travel, Portrait, Child and Open Landscapes.
Our honorable juries were:
This year we received 3722 entries from 224 contestants from 16 different states in India. We received 765 photographs in Monochrome, 813 photographs in Color, 687 photographs in Photo Travel, 549 photographs in Portrait, 515 photographs in Child and 393 photographs in Open Landscapes. Our honourable jury selected 189 photographs in Monochrome, 204 photographs in Color, 165 photographs in Photo Travel, 111 photographs in Portrait, 103 photographs in Child and 88 photographs in Open Landscapes.
There were 107 awards in total including one FIP Gold Medal, one Iris Gold Medal, one Iris Silver Medal, one Iris Bronze Medal, two FIP Ribbons, five Certificates of Merit, three Judge's Choice Certificates, two Chairman's Choice Certificates for each section and three Iris Trophies for Best Author, Best Female Author and Best Club. Also, there was one Iris Gold Medal each for Best Bird, Best Candid, Best Creative, Best Festival, Best Figure Study, Best Human Interest, Best Photo Journalism, Best Sports, Best Still Life, Best Street and Best Wildlife.
FIP Gold Medal in Monochrome was awarded to Mr. Subrata Adhikary for his picture Touch To Sky II, FIP Gold Medal in Color was awarded to Mr. Subhadeep Ghosh for his photograph Shadow, FIP Gold Medal in Photo Travel was awarded to Mr. Konark Basu for his picture The Camel Shepherd 2, FIP Gold Medal in Portrait was awarded to Mr. Thejas K R for his picture I am German, FIP Gold Medal in Child was awarded to Mr. Jinesh Prasad for his picture Innocent and FIP Gold Medal in Open Landscapes was awarded to Mr. Padmanabha K G for his picture Spotlight. Mr. Subrata Adhikary was awarded the Iris Best Author Trophy, Ms. Husna Khot was awarded the Iris Best Female Author Trophy and YPS Bengaluru won the Iris Best Club Award.
The exhibition was held on 28th April 2019 at Noty Binodini Memorial Art Gallery, Star Theatre, Kolkata. Prof. Biswatosh Sengupta graced the occasion as the Guest-in-Chief and Dr. Abhoy Nath Ganguly as the Guest-of-Honour. The eminent photographer Prof. Tarak Sengupta was present as our Special Guest. We displayed 35 Medal Winners' prints and 12 Ribbon Winners' prints. Also, we projected a digital show of 860 photographs for almost one-and-a-half hours. We distributed medals and certificates during our exhibition to the award winners present at the exhibition hall. We also sent awards to our winners via Registered Post ensuring that all the winners received their respective awards.
